Family Therapists, are specially trained to assess and intervene in family dynamics to promote healthy attachment and relationships. Susan often works as a parent consultant to parents to help parents help their children. Typically for families with young children, the sessions are with the parents only. For families with school age children the sessions are often split or alternated between parent sessions and child sessions with family sessions as needed. For families with teens the sessions are typically individual sessions for the teen with occasional parent/family sessions as needed. The younger the child, the more Susan works with the parent(s). Especially for New Parents
The Postpartum period and childbearing years are full of change and can be a challenging stage in the family life cycle. New parents often find they are having difficulty calming their colicky baby or are confused about conflicting advice from books, family, and friends.
